DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS

Indianola Municipal Utilities Citywide Distribution System Upgrade

The Indianola Municipal Utilities (IMU) needed to upgrade and convert their 4kV distribution system to 13kV to simplify the system, improve reliability, better serve existing load, and provide for growth. P&E Engineering assisted IMU by mapping their existing system and analyzing system requirements. Long range plans were prepared, with estimates of the cost to upgrade and convert the system in manageable annual phases.

IMU selected a 15-year plan for the system conversion, beginning in 1998. P&E has developed detailed conversion plans for each year and designed the installation of underground and overhead distribution circuits to convert and upgrade the system. P&E works closely with IMU to develop the contract packages for competitive bidding and provides contract management services during construction.
